Scheduling Appointments

You can schedule an appointment by calling 770-517-0250 during business hours. If your child is sick and requires an unscheduled exam, you may call our office for your child to be worked in as quickly as possible. It is helpful if you give us enough notice when you call to ensure the highest quality of care to everyone.

Should you need to cancel an appointment we request a 24 hour notice

EMERGENCIES, AFTER HOURS, WEEKENDS & HOLIDAYS

A physician is on call for our practice 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. All phone calls after business hours are directed by our answering service to the nurse advice line at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. Should you need to additionally speak to one of our physicians, they can page the physician on call that night. Our practice is charged for each call to the nurse advice line, so please keep all routine calls for regular office hours. Medications will not be called in or refilled by the on call physician after hours.

In the event of a life threatening illness you may take your child directly to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Scottish Rite or the nearest hospital emergency department. Immediate assistant can be obtained by calling 911.

Referrals

Occasionally, your child needs a referral to another specialist. Many insurance companies dictate a very specific way that this needs to be done (including HMO's and Medicaid). It is most important that you should contact our office BEFORE you see another specialist. We are under legal obligation to your insurance company to get authorization from the insurance company before we send patients to another specialist. This process usually takes 1 to 2 business days to complete.

When your pediatrician believes your child needs another specialist's evaluation: Call the specialist or group and make an appointment. Identify your insurance plan and confirm that the doctor is on your plan (as doctors sometimes change plans).

Call our office back with the name of the specific doctor with whom your child has an appointment. We will also need the date of the appointment and fax number if they need information sent to their office before you are seen.

Again, please make sure we have at least 3 to 5 business days for the completion of your referral. Remember, referrals can not be completed "after the fact." In other words, do not make an appointment with a specialist and then call us for a referral. If you have any questions, our phone nurse is available during business hours.

Billing

We will bill your insurance company for services rendered. Co-pays and deductibles are to be paid at the time of service. Responsibility for payment is the patient’s parents or guardian. For your convenience we do accept American Express, Visa, and Master Card.

Insurance

Woodstock Pediatric Medicine participates with numerous insurance plans including Medicaid, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna, United Healthcare, Cigna and Coventry. To inquire if we participate in your plan you may call our office or contact your insurance company.

Proof of insurance is required at time of service. When proof of insurance can not be provided or obtained, it will be necessary for all charges to be billed as “Patient Responsibility.” We can not file a claim for you without your current insurance information. Once we have the proper documentation, we can bill your insurance company.

Insurance coverage varies from plan to plan. It is important for you to be aware of your policies benefits. Please verify your benefits and be aware of any limitations that you may have regarding well child care. Our staff will assist you in obtaining any referrals as required by your plan in a timely manner.
